Dear Parents,

We are writing to provide an update in relation to the continuously developing COVID-19 situation. The Board and Management continue to focus on the health and safety of our staff and children, as well as on the ongoing operations of Matthew John Early Learning Centre.

With that in mind, the Board can advise that March fees have been collected at the beginning of the month given that the MJELC was open and incurring normal-course operational costs. The Board determined to continue to pay staff salaries during the first two weeks of the present closure, and is taking steps to continue to do so through April 5th. The Board is considering the overall financial impact of the outbreak and what steps may be possible and appropriate regarding staff pay and daycare fees. The Board is awaiting further information from the City and the Province regarding any financial assistance that may become available, and will communicate with caregivers once further determinations regarding this have been made.

We again request your patience as we navigate through this unprecedented time. The Board will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as appropriate. If you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out to Jola or Kim.
